新たな始まり

ヒースクリフの死後、嵐が丘での生活は完全に変わった。彼の暗い存在がなくなると、まるで太陽がついに雲を突き破ったかのように、家は明るくなったように見えた。

After Heathcliff's death, life at Wuthering Heights changed completely. Without his dark presence, the house seemed to brighten, as if the sun had finally broken through the clouds.

キャシーとヘアトンは今や家の主人だった。彼らは一緒に嵐が丘を改装し、快適で幸せな家にすることを決めた。彼らは部屋を掃除し、家具を修理し、家の周りに新しい庭を作った。

Cathy and Hareton were now the masters of the house. Together, they decided to renovate Wuthering Heights, to make it a comfortable, happy home. They cleaned the rooms and repaired the furniture, and they planted new gardens around the house.

教育を拒否されていたヘアトンは、今や学ぶために一生懸命働いた。キャシーの助けを借りて、彼は読み書きを学び、教養を身につけ自信を持つようになった。キャシーは彼の進歩を誇りに思い、彼の決意を称賛した。

Hareton, who had been denied an education, now worked hard to learn. With Cathy's help, he learned to read and write, and he became educated and confident. Cathy was proud of his progress and admired his determination.

彼らはまた、リントンの未亡人として今やキャシーのものとなったスラッシュクロス・グランジの世話もした。彼らは二つの家を行き来し、両方の場所の美しさを楽しんだ。

They also took care of Thrushcross Grange, which now belonged to Cathy as Linton's widow. They traveled between the two houses, enjoying the beauty of both places.

Mrs. Dean watched them with joy. She remembered the dark, unhappy days of the past, and she was glad that this new generation had found happiness. The cycle of hatred and revenge had finally been broken.

キャシーとヘアトンは日に日に親密になっていった。彼らは最初は友人だったが、彼らの友情は徐々により深いものへと変わっていった。彼らはお互いを尊重し、大切にし合い、キャサリンとヒースクリフの愛のように野生的で情熱的ではなく、穏やかで優しい愛を共有した。

Cathy and Hareton grew closer each day. They had been friends first, but their friendship gradually became something deeper. They respected each other and cared for each other, and they shared a love that was gentle and kind, not wild and passionate like Catherine and Heathcliff's love.

ある夕方、ムーアに沈む夕日を見ていると、ヘアトンはキャシーの手を取った。

One evening, as they watched the sunset over the moors, Hareton took Cathy's hand.

「ここで幸せになれるとは思ったこともなかった」と彼は静かに言った。「君がすべてを変えたんだ、キャシー。君が僕に希望と未来をくれた」

'I never thought I would be happy here,' he said quietly. 'You changed everything, Cathy. You gave me hope and a future.'

キャシーは彼に微笑んだ。「私たちはお互いに希望を与え合ったのよ」と彼女は言った。「私たちは闇を生き延びて、今、光を見つけたの」

Cathy smiled at him. 'We gave each other hope,' she said. 'We survived the darkness, and now we have found the light.'

かつて多くの苦しみと痛みの舞台だったムーアは、今や平和と美の場所となった。キャシーとヘアトンは丘を一緒に歩き、風と野花を楽しみ、古く辛い思い出に代わる新しい思い出を作っていった。

The moors, once the setting for so much suffering and pain, were now a place of peace and beauty. Cathy and Hareton walked together on the hills, enjoying the wind and the wildflowers, creating new memories to replace the old, painful ones.

過去の幽霊たちはついに安らかに眠りにつき、未来は約束で輝いていた。

The ghosts of the past had finally been laid to rest, and the future was bright with promise.
