第一章：白蛇と青蛇

Chapter 1: The White Snake and Green Snake

千年前、峨眉山の霧深い峰の高いところに、二人の並外れた存在が住んでいました。一人は強大な力を持つ白蛇で、もう一人は元気な青蛇でした。十世紀にわたる静かな瞑想と厳しい精神修養を通じて、彼女たちは信じられないほどの魔法の力を得て、動物の姿を超越することができました。

A thousand years ago, high upon the misty peaks of Mount Emei, there lived two extraordinary beings. One was a white snake of immense power, and the other was a spirited green snake. Through ten centuries of silent meditation and rigorous spiritual cultivation, they had gained incredible magical powers, allowing them to transcend their animal forms.

「姉さん、下の世界を見て」と、ある朝、青蛇が好奇心に目を輝かせてささやきました。「杭州の人間たちはとても活気ある生活を送っているみたい。二本の足で歩き、彼らの喜びや悲しみを経験するのがどんな感じか、不思議に思ったことはない？」

"Sister, look at the world below," the green snake whispered one morning, her eyes bright with curiosity. "The humans in Hangzhou seem to lead such vibrant lives. Don't you ever wonder what it feels like to walk on two legs and experience their joys and sorrows?"

白蛇は優しく微笑み、その鱗は日光を受けてきらめきました。「長い間、そのことを考えていたわ、小青（シャオチン）。私たちはこの山で千年を過ごした。そろそろ自分たちの目で世界を見る時が来たのかもしれないわね」

The white snake smiled gently, her scales shimmering in the sunlight. "I have wondered for a long time, Xiaoqing. We have spent a thousand years in these mountains. Perhaps it is time for us to see the world for ourselves."

突然の魔法の霧の渦とともに、二匹の蛇は美しい人間の女性に変身しました。白蛇は白素貞（バイ・スージェン）と名乗り、高貴な生まれの優雅な女性として現れ、青蛇は彼女の忠実で活発な侍女、小青となりました。二人は息をのむほど美しく、元の姿に合わせた白と緑の流れるような衣をまとっていました。

With a sudden swirl of magical mist, the two snakes transformed into beautiful human women. The white snake took the name Bai Suzhen, appearing as a graceful lady of noble birth, while the green snake became her loyal and lively maid, Xiaoqing. They were both breathtakingly beautiful, dressed in flowing robes of white and green that matched their original forms.

「覚えておいて、小青」と、出発の準備をしながら白素貞は警告しました。「人間の世界は複雑よ。私たちは力を賢く使い、決して罪のない人々を傷つけてはいけない。私たちの目的は人間性を理解することであって、それを混乱させることではないの」

"Remember, Xiaoqing," Bai Suzhen warned as they prepared to depart. "The human world is complex. We must use our powers wisely and never cause harm to the innocent. Our goal is to understand humanity, not to disrupt it."

「分かったわ、姉さん！」小青はいたずらっぽい笑みを浮かべて答えました。「行儀よくすることを約束するわ。さあ、西湖へ急ぎましょう！あそこの柳はこの世のものとは思えないほど素晴らしいって聞いたわ」

"I understand, sister!" Xiaoqing replied with a playful grin. "I promise to be on my best behavior. Now, let us hurry to the West Lake! I've heard the willows there are like nothing else in this world."

期待に胸を膨らませ、彼女たちは山の聖域を離れ、賑やかな杭州の街へと向かいました。山の斜面を下るにつれて空気は暖かくなり、人間の生活の音が耳に届き始めました。彼女たちは運命を永遠に変える旅に出ようとしており、伝説の西湖のしだれ柳の下で、精霊と定命の者がまもなく交差する領域へと足を踏み入れたのです。

With their hearts full of anticipation, they left their mountain sanctuary and set off toward the bustling city of Hangzhou. As they descended the mountain slopes, the air grew warmer, and the sounds of human life began to reach their ears. They were about to embark on a journey that would change their destinies forever, entering a realm where spirits and mortals would soon cross paths under the weeping willows of the legendary West Lake.
