第11章：時の流れ

Chapter 11: The Passage of Time

私はルントゥを見て、時の流れについて考えました。

I looked at Run Tu, thinking about the passage of time.

二十年、これは非常に長い時間です。二十年前、私は子供で、ルントゥも子供でした。私たちは一緒に遊び、一緒に育ちました。二十年後の今日、私たちは二人とも変わりました。

Twenty years, this is a very long time. Twenty years ago, I was a child, and Run Tu was a child too. We played together, grew up together. Twenty years later today, we have both changed.

私は勉強し、大学受験をし、都会で仕事を見つけました。ルントゥは田舎に残り、結婚し、子供を持ち、農業で生計を立てました。私たちの運命は全く異なります。

I studied, took university exams, and found a job in the city. Run Tu stayed in the countryside, got married, had children, and made a living farming. Our fates are completely different.

ルントゥは私を見て言いました。「若旦那様、あなたは今や学問のあるお方です、きっと素晴らしい未来があるでしょう。」

Run Tu looked at me and said, "Young Master, you are now a learned person, you will surely have a great future."

私は微笑んで言いました。「素晴らしい未来なんて、ただ生計を立てているだけだよ。」

I smiled and said, "What great future, I'm just making a living."

彼は言いました。「都会で働けるというのはすでにとても良いことです。私たち農民は一生畑で働いて過ごし、あまり未来がありません。」

He said, "Being able to work in the city is already very good. We farmers spend our whole lives working in the fields, without much of a future."

私は何と言っていいかわからず、ただうなずきました。

I didn't know what to say, just nodded.

時は流れ、誰もが自分の道を歩み、誰もが自分の運命を持っています。

Time passes, and everyone walks their own path, everyone has their own destiny.
