第5章：故郷の友人たち

Chapter 5: My Hometown Friends

母は、多くの古い友人が来たと言いました。彼らは引っ越しを手伝うために、そして私に会うために来ました。

Mother told me that many old friends had come. They came to help us move and also to see me.

私は家に入り、数人の古い村人を見ました。知っている人もいれば、もう覚えていない人もいました。彼らは私を見るととても喜び、私が成長して大人になったと言いました。

I walked into the house and saw several old villagers. Some I knew, others I didn't remember anymore. When they saw me, they were very happy, saying that I had grown up and become an adult.

私は微笑んで言いました。「何年も皆さんにお会いしていませんでしたが、皆さんも年を取りましたね。」彼らはうなずき、誰もが年を取る、時間はあまりにも早く過ぎると言いました。

I smiled and said, "I haven't seen you all for so many years, and you've all gotten old too." They nodded and said everyone gets old, time passes too quickly.

私たちは過去のことについて話しました。彼らは私が子供の頃どんなふうだったかまだ覚えていて、私がルントゥと遊んでいた情景を覚えていました。私もいくつかの過去の出来事を思い出し、心が温かくなりました。

We talked about things from the past. They still remembered how I looked as a child, remembered the scenes of me playing with Run Tu. I also remembered some past events, feeling warm in my heart.

しかし、私は彼らの顔のしわや服の継ぎ当ても見ました。彼らの生活は、どうやら楽ではないようでした。

But I also saw the wrinkles on their faces and the patches on their clothes. Their lives, it seemed, were not easy.
