Chapter 11: The Pacific Ocean

私たちは広大な太平洋、世界で最大かつ最も深い海へと航海した。水はあらゆる方向に果てしなく広がり、私たちは陸地から遠く離れ、本当に孤独だった。

We sailed into the vast Pacific Ocean, the largest and deepest ocean in the world. The water stretched endlessly in every direction, and we were truly alone, far from any land.

太平洋は美しいが危険でもあった。天候は突然変わることがあり、波は他の海よりも大きく強力だった。私たちは常に警戒し、あらゆることに備えなければならなかった。

The Pacific was beautiful but also dangerous. The weather could change suddenly, and the waves were larger and more powerful than in other oceans. We had to be constantly alert and prepared for anything.

太平洋にいる間、私たちは多くの鯨を見かけ、いくつかの狩りに成功した。しかし、成功するたびに、エイハブ船長の集中力が研ぎ澄まされ、彼の目は常に水平線上のモビー・ディックの兆候を探しているのを感じることができた。

During our time in the Pacific, we saw many whales and had some successful hunts. But with each success, I could feel Captain Ahab's focus narrowing, his eyes always searching the horizon for signs of Moby Dick.
