ステパン・アルカージイチ・オブロンスキー、通称スティーワは、家族の元フランス人家庭教師と浮気をしていました。妻のドリーがそれを知ったとき、彼女は心を痛め、彼と別れることを決意しました。家全体が混乱し、使用人たちはどうすればいいのかわかりませんでした。

Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way. The Oblonsky family was now in a state of unhappiness. When his wife Dolly discovered his affair with the family's teacher, their family fell into chaos.

スティーワは妹のアンナ・カレーニナに、ドリーを慰め、結婚生活を救うためにサンクトペテルブルクからモスクワに来るように頼みました。アンナは美しく魅力的な女性で、政府の高官アレクセイ・カレーニンと結婚しており、セリョージャという息子がいました。

Oblonsky was a government official who lived a wealthy life but had chaotic emotions. Now he had to face his angry wife and did not know how to handle the situation. He felt very frustrated and didn't know what to do.

Meanwhile, in St. Petersburg, Anna Karenina was preparing to visit her brother Oblonsky. She was a beautiful and elegant woman who was deeply loved by everyone. Anna's husband Karenin was a senior government official who was very serious about his work but cold in his emotions.
