Chapter 16: The Lion-Camel Ridge

4人は獅駝嶺（しだれい）に到着しました。そこには3人の悪魔が住んでいました：青獅子、白象、そして大鵬（たいほう）です。彼らは三蔵法師の肉を食べれば永遠の命が得られると聞き、彼を捕らえることにしました。

The four of them arrived at the Lion-Camel Ridge. Three demons lived there: the Lion Spirit, the Elephant Spirit, and the Roc Spirit. They heard that eating Tang Sanzang's flesh could grant eternal life and decided to capture him.

3人の悪魔は力を合わせて4人を攻撃しました。猪八戒と沙悟浄は捕らえられ、三蔵法師も捕まりました。孫悟空は必死に戦いましたが、敵はあまりにも強力でした。彼は仏陀に助けを求めに行くことしかできませんでした。

The three demons joined forces to attack the four of them. Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing were captured, and Tang Sanzang was also caught. Sun Wukong fought desperately, but the enemies were too powerful. He could only go to ask the Buddha for help.

仏陀は文殊菩薩（もんじゅぼさつ）と普賢菩薩（ふげんぼさつ）と共に獅駝嶺に来ました。彼らは3人の悪魔を服従させました。青獅子は文殊の乗り物、白象は普賢の乗り物、大鵬は仏陀の叔父であることが判明しました。孫悟空は師匠と兄弟を救出し、西への旅を続けました。

The Buddha came to the Lion-Camel Ridge with the Bodhisattvas Manjusri and Samantabhadra. They subdued the three demons. It turned out that the Lion Spirit was Manjusri's mount, the Elephant Spirit was Samantabhadra's mount, and the Roc Spirit was the Buddha's uncle. Sun Wukong rescued his master and brothers and continued their journey west.
