孫悟空の能力はますます強くなり、その名声は天界にまで広がりました。玉帝は誰かを花果山に送り、孫悟空を雇い、弼馬温（ひつまおん）と呼ばれる小役人にしました。孫悟空はこれが重要な地位だと思い、喜んで受け入れました。

Sun Wukong's abilities became stronger and stronger, and his fame spread to the Heavenly Court. The Jade Emperor sent someone to Flower-Fruit Mountain to recruit Sun Wukong and make him a minor official called the Keeper of the Heavenly Horses. Sun Wukong thought this was an important position and happily accepted.

しかし、弼馬温がただ馬の世話をする小役人であることを知ったとき、彼は非常に怒りました。彼はすぐに花果山に戻り、自らを「斉天大聖（せいてんたいせい）」と宣言しました。玉帝は激怒し、孫悟空を捕らえるために10万の天兵と将軍を送りました。

But when he learned that the Keeper of the Heavenly Horses was just a small official who took care of horses, he was very angry. He immediately returned to Flower-Fruit Mountain and declared himself the "Great Sage Equal to Heaven." The Jade Emperor was furious and sent 100,000 heavenly soldiers and generals to capture Sun Wukong.

孫悟空は全く恐れませんでした。彼は金の棒を振り回し、天軍と激しく戦いました。彼の魔法の力は大きく、彼はすべての天の神々を打ち負かし、天の南門にさえ到達しました。玉帝は孫悟空に正式に「斉天大聖」の称号を与え、彼に桃源郷を管理させるしかありませんでした。

Sun Wukong was not afraid at all. He waved his golden rod and fought fiercely with the heavenly troops. His magical powers were great, and he defeated all the heavenly gods, even reaching the South Gate of Heaven. The Jade Emperor had no choice but to officially title Sun Wukong the "Great Sage Equal to Heaven" and let him manage the Peach Garden.
