Levin returned to his village Pokrovskoye. He put all his energy into farm management, hoping that work would help him forget Kitty. Although Levin worked hard, his heart still felt lonely and painful.

In the countryside, Levin cared about the farmers' lives and hoped to improve their working conditions. He often discussed agricultural issues with the farmers and tried to introduce new planting methods. Levin believed that only through labor and connection with nature could one truly understand the meaning of life.
No campo, Levin se preocupa com a vida dos camponeses e espera melhorar suas condições de trabalho. Ele costuma discutir questões agrícolas com os camponeses e tenta introduzir novos métodos de plantio. Although Levin still missed Kitty, he began to accept reality and tried to make his life more fulfilling.
