Chapter 10: The White Whale
제10장: 흰 고래
The stories of Moby Dick grew more frightening with each telling. Sailors claimed that this white whale was not like other whales, but something supernatural, a creature of evil and destruction.
모비 딕의 이야기는 전해질 때마다 더 무서워졌다. 선원들은 이 흰 고래가 다른 고래와 같지 않고 초자연적인 무언가, 악과 파괴의 생물이라고 주장했다.
Some said they had seen Moby Dick in different parts of the world, as if it could travel anywhere instantly. Others spoke of how it would sink ships without warning, appearing suddenly and disappearing just as quickly.
어떤 사람들은 마치 즉시 어디든 여행할 수 있는 것처럼 세계 여러 곳에서 모비 딕을 보았다고 말했다. 다른 사람들은 예고 없이 배를 침몰시키고 갑자기 나타났다가 똑같이 빨리 사라지는 방법에 대해 이야기했다.
Captain Ahab listened to these stories with hunger in his eyes. Each tale only strengthened his determination to find and kill the whale. I began to wonder if this hunt was about revenge or something darker and more dangerous.
