제12장: 사마의, 권력을 찬탈하다
After Zhuge Liang's death, the internal situation in Wei changed. Cao Rui succeeded as Wei Emperor, but he was young and incompetent, unable to control the court administration. Great power gradually fell into Sima Yi's hands.
제갈량 사후 위나라의 내부 정세는 변화했다. 조예가 위나라 황제로 뒤를 이었지만 그는 어리고 무능하여 조정의 행정을 통제할 수 없었다. 막강한 권력은 점차 사마의의 손에 들어갔다.
Sima Yi was a person with great ambition. He had always coveted the throne of Wei, but the time was not ripe. After Zhuge Liang's death, external threats diminished, and Sima Yi began preparing to usurp the throne.
사마의는 큰 야망을 가진 인물이었다. 그는 항상 위나라의 황좌를 탐냈지만 때가 무르익지 않았다. 제갈량 사후 외부의 위협이 줄어들자 사마의는 황좌를 찬탈할 준비를 시작했다.
Sima Yi cultivated his own forces in the court and excluded dissidents. He appointed his trusted followers, eliminated political enemies, and gradually consolidated his position. Many loyal officials were framed by him, and court administration became increasingly dark.
사마의는 조정 내에 자신의 세력을 키우고 반대파를 배제했다. 그는 신뢰하는 부하들을 임명하고 정적들을 제거하며 점차 자신의 지위를 굳혔다. 많은 충신들이 그에 의해 모함을 받았고 조정 행정은 점점 더 암흑으로 변했다.
Although Cao Rui realized Sima Yi's ambition, he was powerless to stop it. Sima Yi's forces were already deeply rooted, and anyone who wanted to oppose him would be suppressed.

Ultimately, Sima Yi launched a coup d'état, deposed Cao Rui, and established Cao Fang as emperor. In reality, Sima Yi had already become the actual ruler of Wei, and the emperor was merely his puppet.
결국 사마의는 쿠데타를 일으켜 조예를 폐위시키고 조방을 황제로 옹립했다. 실제로 사마의는 이미 위나라의 실질적인 지배자가 되었고 황제는 단지 그의 꼭두각시에 불과했다.
Sima Yi's usurpation of power marked the entry of Wei into a period of decline. Although on the surface Wei still appeared powerful, internal corruption and power struggles had already deprived it of its former vitality.
사마의의 권력 찬탈은 위나라가 쇠퇴기로 접어들었음을 알렸다. 겉으로는 위나라가 여전히 강력해 보였지만 내부의 부패와 권력 투쟁은 이미 예전의 활력을 앗아갔다.
