Chapter 9: Liu Bei Attacks Wu
제9장: 유비, 오를 공격하다
After Guan Yu was killed by Eastern Wu, Liu Bei swore to avenge Guan Yu. He disregarded Zhuge Liang's advice and decided to mobilize the entire nation's strength to attack Wu in revenge. Although this decision was motivated by brotherhood, it was an incorrect choice.

Zhuge Liang persuaded Liu Bei, believing that Cao Cao was the greatest enemy and that Eastern Wu could be united with to resist Cao Cao. However, Liu Bei was already blinded by hatred and could not listen to rational advice.

Liu Bei led a large army to attack Wu and initially achieved some victories. The Eastern Wu army retreated repeatedly, and Liu Bei's army advanced like splitting bamboo. However, the appearance of Lu Xun changed everything.

Lu Xun was a young general of Eastern Wu, intelligent and cautious. He adopted a defensive strategy, avoiding direct confrontation with Liu Bei and waiting for an opportunity to counterattack. This strategy confused Liu Bei, who thought Lu Xun was cowardly.

Liu Bei was arrogant and decided to station his troops in the mountains and forests. Lu Xun seized the opportunity and launched a fire attack. The fire spread rapidly through the mountains and forests, and Liu Bei's army fell into chaos, with heavy casualties.
유비는 오만해져서 산과 숲에 군대를 주둔시키기로 결정했다. 육손은 기회를 포착하여 화공을 감행했다. 불길은 산과 숲으로 빠르게 번졌고 유비의 군대는 혼란에 빠져 막대한 사상자를 냈다.
The Battle of Yiling ended with Liu Bei's defeat. Liu Bei fled back to Yizhou in disgrace, losing hundreds of thousands of troops. This campaign greatly damaged Shu Han's vitality, and it could never restore its former strength.
이릉대전은 유비의 패배로 끝났다. 유비는 불명예스럽게 익주로 도망쳤고 수십만 명의 병력을 잃었다. 이 전투는 촉한의 국력을 크게 손상시켰고 다시는 예전의 힘을 회복할 수 없었다.
