Chapter 9: The Badger Incident
제9장: 오소리 사건
I remember one year when we found a badger in the melon field.
어느 해 수박밭에서 오소리를 발견했던 것이 기억난다.
It was a hot afternoon, and we were cooling off in the melon shed. Suddenly, I saw a small black shadow moving in the melon field. I looked carefully and saw it was a badger, stealing our watermelons.
더운 오후였고, 우리는 원두막에서 더위를 식히고 있었다. 갑자기 수박밭에서 작은 검은 그림자가 움직이는 것을 보았다. 자세히 보니 오소리였고, 우리 수박을 훔치고 있었다.
I shouted, "Run Tu, there's a badger!"
나는 소리쳤다. "룬투, 오소리야!"
Run Tu jumped up and said, "Chase it!"
룬투는 벌떡 일어나 말했다. "잡아!"
We chased the badger, running all the way to the riverside. The badger jumped into the river and swam to the other side. We stood by the river, watching it run away.
우리는 오소리를 쫓아 강가까지 계속 달렸다. 오소리는 강으로 뛰어들어 반대편으로 헤엄쳐 갔다. 우리는 강가에 서서 그것이 도망가는 것을 지켜보았다.
Run Tu said, "Tomorrow we'll come to catch it again."
룬투는 말했다. "내일 다시 잡으러 오자."
The next day, we went to the melon field early to wait for the badger. We waited and waited, waited all day, but it didn't come. We were very disappointed, but there was nothing we could do.
다음 날, 우리는 오소리를 기다리기 위해 일찍 수박밭으로 갔다. 우리는 기다리고 또 기다렸고, 하루 종일 기다렸지만 그것은 오지 않았다. 우리는 매우 실망했지만 어쩔 수 없었다.
Now when I think of this incident, I still smile. At that time, we were so innocent, so happy.
지금 이 사건을 생각하면 여전히 미소가 지어진다. 그 당시 우리는 정말 순진했고, 정말 행복했다.
