Chapter 5: My Hometown Friends
제5장: 고향 친구들
Mother told me that many old friends had come. They came to help us move and also to see me.
어머니는 많은 옛 친구들이 왔다고 말씀하셨다. 그들은 이사를 돕기 위해, 그리고 나를 보기 위해 왔다.
I walked into the house and saw several old villagers. Some I knew, others I didn't remember anymore. When they saw me, they were very happy, saying that I had grown up and become an adult.
나는 집으로 들어가 몇몇 늙은 마을 사람들을 보았다. 어떤 사람들은 내가 알았고, 다른 사람들은 더 이상 기억나지 않았다. 그들은 나를 보고 매우 기뻐하며 내가 자라서 어른이 되었다고 말했다.
I smiled and said, "I haven't seen you all for so many years, and you've all gotten old too." They nodded and said everyone gets old, time passes too quickly.
나는 미소를 지으며 말했다. "정말 오랜만이에요. 여러분도 다 늙으셨네요." 그들은 고개를 끄덕이며 누구나 늙는 법이고, 시간은 너무 빨리 흐른다고 말했다.
We talked about things from the past. They still remembered how I looked as a child, remembered the scenes of me playing with Run Tu. I also remembered some past events, feeling warm in my heart.
우리는 과거의 일들에 대해 이야기했다. 그들은 여전히 내가 어렸을 때 어떤 모습이었는지 기억했고, 내가 룬투와 놀던 장면들을 기억했다. 나도 몇몇 과거의 일들을 기억하며 가슴이 따뜻해졌다.
But I also saw the wrinkles on their faces and the patches on their clothes. Their lives, it seemed, were not easy.
하지만 나는 그들의 얼굴에 있는 주름과 옷에 기운 자국들도 보았다. 그들의 삶은, 보아하니 쉽지 않은 것 같았다.
