During his journey, Lao Can saw many positive changes. Some knowledgeable people were striving to reform, and some young people were accepting new thoughts. Although these changes were small, they represented the direction of the future.
Lao Can also saw the awakening of the people. They were no longer willing to be oppressed and began to demand their own rights. This awakening was where the hope for China's future lay.
Lao Can believed that education was the foundation for revitalizing China. Only by universalizing education and cultivating talent could national development be truly promoted. He recorded many observations about educational reform.
Lao Can also believed that the current of history could no longer be obstructed. The seeds of revolution had been sown, and a new era was about to arrive. This belief filled him with confidence in the future.
