After Sima Yi usurped power, the actual power of Wei was held by the Sima family. After Sima Yi's death, his sons Sima Shi and Sima Zhao continued to control the court administration, becoming the actual rulers of Wei.
Sima Shi was a cruel and cunning person. He deposed Cao Fang and established Cao Mao as emperor. This showed that the Sima family had completely controlled Wei, and the emperor had no real power.

Wei's loyal officials were angry at the Sima family's monopoly of power. Cao Mao attempted to resist and organized troops to crusade against Sima Zhao. However, this plan was discovered by Sima Zhao, and Cao Mao was killed.
After Sima Zhao was killed, Sima Yan inherited the Sima family's power. He accelerated the pace of usurping the throne and finally forced the Wei emperor to abdicate. Sima Yan established the Jin Dynasty, ending Wei's rule.
The Sima family replacing Wei marked the entry of Chinese history into a new period. The Three Kingdoms era was about to end, and the dawn of unification had already appeared.
