Chapter 3: The Old House
Hometown - Bab 3
Our old house had been empty for a long time. After Father passed away, Mother and I both moved to the city. Now, Mother is old too and wants to move to the city to live with me.
Rumah Tua
The old house has fallen into disrepair. There are cracks in the walls, and the roof leaks. The courtyard is overgrown with wild grass, looking very desolate. I remember the days when our family lived here when I was a child. At that time, the old house was still new, and the courtyard was full of flowers.
Rumah tua kami sudah lama kosong. Setelah Ayah meninggal, Ibu dan saya pindah ke kota. Sekarang, Ibu sudah tua juga dan ingin pindah ke kota untuk tinggal bersama saya.
Mother said that selling the old house was for me to get married. I told Mother that I hadn't found a suitable person yet. Mother sighed and said she was getting old too and hoped I could start a family as soon as possible.
Rumah tua itu telah menjadi rusak. Ada retakan di dinding, dan atapnya bocor. Halamannya ditumbuhi rumput liar, terlihat sangat sunyi. Saya ingat hari-hari ketika keluarga kami tinggal di sini ketika saya masih kecil. Pada waktu itu, rumah tua itu masih baru, dan halamannya penuh dengan bunga.
I looked at the old house, feeling very sad. This is my home, the place where I grew up.
Ibu berkata bahwa menjual rumah tua itu adalah agar saya bisa menikah. Saya memberi tahu Ibu bahwa saya belum menemukan orang yang cocok. Ibu menghela nafas dan berkata dia juga semakin tua dan berharap saya bisa segera berkeluarga.
Saya melihat rumah tua itu, merasa sangat sedih. Ini adalah rumah saya, tempat saya tumbuh besar.
