The stories of Moby Dick grew more frightening with each telling. Sailors claimed that this white whale was not like other whales, but something supernatural, a creature of evil and destruction.
Les histoires de Moby Dick devenaient plus effrayantes à chaque récit. Les marins affirmaient que cette baleine blanche n'était pas comme les autres baleines, mais quelque chose de surnaturel, une créature de mal et de destruction.
Some said they had seen Moby Dick in different parts of the world, as if it could travel anywhere instantly. Others spoke of how it would sink ships without warning, appearing suddenly and disappearing just as quickly.
Certains disaient avoir vu Moby Dick dans différentes parties du monde, comme s'il pouvait voyager n'importe où instantanément. D'autres racontaient comment il coulait des navires sans avertissement, apparaissant soudainement et disparaissant tout aussi rapidement.
Captain Ahab listened to these stories with hunger in his eyes. Each tale only strengthened his determination to find and kill the whale. I began to wonder if this hunt was about revenge or something darker and more dangerous.
