Chapter 11: The Passage of Time
Capítulo 11: El Paso del Tiempo
I looked at Run Tu, thinking about the passage of time.
Miré a Run Tu, pensando en el paso del tiempo.
Twenty years, this is a very long time. Twenty years ago, I was a child, and Run Tu was a child too. We played together, grew up together. Twenty years later today, we have both changed.
Veinte años, este es un tiempo muy largo. Hace veinte años, yo era un niño, y Run Tu también era un niño. Jugábamos juntos, crecimos juntos. Veinte años después, hoy, ambos hemos cambiado.
I studied, took university exams, and found a job in the city. Run Tu stayed in the countryside, got married, had children, and made a living farming. Our fates are completely different.
Estudié, tomé exámenes universitarios y encontré un trabajo en la ciudad. Run Tu se quedó en el campo, se casó, tuvo hijos y se ganó la vida cultivando. Nuestros destinos son completamente diferentes.
Run Tu looked at me and said, "Young Master, you are now a learned person, you will surely have a great future."
Run Tu me miró y dijo: "Joven Maestro, ahora es una persona instruida, seguramente tendrá un gran futuro".
I smiled and said, "What great future, I'm just making a living."
Sonreí y dije: "¿Qué gran futuro? Solo me gano la vida".
He said, "Being able to work in the city is already very good. We farmers spend our whole lives working in the fields, without much of a future."
Dijo: "Poder trabajar en la ciudad ya es muy bueno. Nosotros, los agricultores, pasamos toda nuestra vida trabajando en los campos, sin mucho futuro".
I didn't know what to say, just nodded.
No supe qué decir, solo asentí.
Time passes, and everyone walks their own path, everyone has their own destiny.
El tiempo pasa, y cada uno camina su propio camino, cada uno tiene su propio destino.
