Chapter 9: The Badger Incident
Capítulo 9: El Incidente del Tejón
I remember one year when we found a badger in the melon field.
Recuerdo un año en que encontramos un tejón en el campo de melones.
It was a hot afternoon, and we were cooling off in the melon shed. Suddenly, I saw a small black shadow moving in the melon field. I looked carefully and saw it was a badger, stealing our watermelons.
Era una tarde calurosa y nos estábamos refrescando en el cobertizo de melones. De repente, vi una pequeña sombra negra moviéndose en el campo de melones. Miré con atención y vi que era un tejón, robando nuestras sandías.
I shouted, "Run Tu, there's a badger!"
Grité: "¡Run Tu, hay un tejón!"
Run Tu jumped up and said, "Chase it!"
Run Tu saltó y dijo: "¡Atrápalo!"
We chased the badger, running all the way to the riverside. The badger jumped into the river and swam to the other side. We stood by the river, watching it run away.
Perseguimos al tejón, corriendo todo el camino hasta la orilla del río. El tejón saltó al río y nadó hacia el otro lado. Nos paramos junto al río, viéndolo huir.
Run Tu said, "Tomorrow we'll come to catch it again."
Run Tu dijo: "Mañana vendremos a atraparlo de nuevo".
The next day, we went to the melon field early to wait for the badger. We waited and waited, waited all day, but it didn't come. We were very disappointed, but there was nothing we could do.
Al día siguiente, fuimos temprano al campo de melones a esperar al tejón. Esperamos y esperamos, esperamos todo el día, pero no vino. Estábamos muy decepcionados, pero no había nada que pudiéramos hacer.
Now when I think of this incident, I still smile. At that time, we were so innocent, so happy.
