Chapter 9: Storm and Tragedy

A terrible storm struck the coastal area where Ham Peggotty lived. Ham was engaged to Emily, but Emily had run away with Steerforth, causing great scandal and pain to her family. Despite everything, Ham still loved Emily and hoped she would return.

During the storm, a ship was wrecked near the shore. Ham bravely went into the water to try to save a drowning man. Tragically, both Ham and the man he tried to save were lost to the waves. Later, we learned that the drowning man was Steerforth. The deaths of both Ham and Steerforth took two important people from our lives and left us all to mourn their passing.
