Chapter 3: Work and Factory

After my mother's death, my stepfather sent me to work in a factory in London. It was a dark, dirty place with long working hours and harsh conditions. There I met Mick Walker and Mealy Potatoes, who became my friends and taught me how to survive.

Despite the hardship, these friendships gave me comfort and hope. During this difficult time, I desperately missed my education. I still had dreams of becoming a learned man, but the reality of factory work seemed to crush those dreams. However, I refused to give up completely and read whenever I could.
