Anna and Vronsky tried to re-enter the social circle, but they found they had lost their original status. People looked at them with different eyes, which made them feel very uncomfortable.
Karenin rejected Anna's request to see her son, which made Anna very painful. She couldn't imagine what it would be like not to see her son.
Vronsky also began to be excluded in society, which made him very depressed. He worked hard, hoping to regain people's respect.
