Chapter 8: The Siege of Chentang Pass
Chentang Pass stood as the last major defensive position before the Shang capital. Its walls were thick and high, defended by experienced soldiers and powerful magical barriers. The Shang commanders had spent months preparing for the inevitable siege.
Jiang Ziya established his command post on a hill overlooking the pass. He studied the fortifications carefully, knowing that a direct assault would result in heavy casualties. The Zhou army needed a more sophisticated approach to breach the defenses.
The siege began with a series of magical attacks. Zhou sorcerers launched fireballs and lightning strikes against the walls, testing the strength of the Shang's protective barriers. The defenders responded with their own magical counterattacks, creating a spectacular display of supernatural power.
Nezha led several daring assaults against the gates, his supernatural weapons clashing with the defensive enchantments. Each attack pushed the boundaries of what was possible, but the walls held firm. The Shang defenders were well-prepared and determined.
Yang Jian used his third eye to search for weaknesses in the magical barriers. He discovered that the barriers were powered by a network of energy nodes hidden within the pass. Destroying these nodes would weaken the defenses significantly.
A special team of Zhou warriors was assembled for a covert mission. Under cover of darkness, they infiltrated the pass through a hidden tunnel that Yang Jian had discovered. Their objective was to destroy the energy nodes and create an opening for the main assault.
The mission succeeded beyond expectations. The energy nodes were destroyed, and the magical barriers flickered and failed. The Zhou army launched a massive assault through the weakened sections of the wall. After days of fierce fighting, Chentang Pass finally fell to the Zhou forces.
