Chapter 8: Melon Garden Secrets
The place Run Tu and I liked most was the melon field.
Every summer, we would go to the melon field to watch over it, preventing badgers from stealing the watermelons. We sat in the melon shed, chatting and watching the melon field. Sometimes, we would see badgers come, and we would chase after them until they could run no more.
Run Tu told me that there were many secrets in the melon field. He said that some melons would grow little worms inside, some melons would crack open by themselves, and some melons would run out from the ground.
I didn't believe it, thinking he was teasing me. So he took me to find those magical melons. We searched and searched, and really found some strange melons. Some melons were shaped like animals, some had little worms inside, and some had cracked open by themselves.
At that time, I thought the melon field was a magical place, full of secrets and fun.
Now, the melon field is still there, but Run Tu no longer has time to watch over the melons.
