Chapter 3: The Old House
Kapitel 3: Das alte Haus
Our old house had been empty for a long time. After Father passed away, Mother and I both moved to the city. Now, Mother is old too and wants to move to the city to live with me.
Unser altes Haus stand schon lange leer. Nachdem Vater gestorben war, zogen Mutter und ich beide in die Stadt. Jetzt ist Mutter auch alt und möchte in die Stadt ziehen, um bei mir zu leben.
The old house has fallen into disrepair. There are cracks in the walls, and the roof leaks. The courtyard is overgrown with wild grass, looking very desolate. I remember the days when our family lived here when I was a child. At that time, the old house was still new, and the courtyard was full of flowers.
Das alte Haus ist verfallen. Es gibt Risse in den Wänden, und das Dach ist undicht. Der Hof ist mit wildem Gras überwuchert und sieht sehr trostlos aus. Ich erinnere mich an die Tage, als unsere Familie hier lebte, als ich ein Kind war. Damals war das alte Haus noch neu, und der Hof war voller Blumen.
Mother said that selling the old house was for me to get married. I told Mother that I hadn't found a suitable person yet. Mother sighed and said she was getting old too and hoped I could start a family as soon as possible.
Mutter sagte, dass der Verkauf des alten Hauses dazu diente, dass ich heiraten konnte. Ich sagte Mutter, dass ich noch keine passende Person gefunden hätte. Mutter seufzte und sagte, sie werde auch alt und hoffe, ich könne so bald wie möglich eine Familie gründen.
I looked at the old house, feeling very sad. This is my home, the place where I grew up.
Ich schaute das alte Haus an und fühlte mich sehr traurig. Dies ist mein Zuhause, der Ort, an dem ich aufgewachsen bin.
